The Anjou Digital Joint Open Syndicate (Syndicat Mixte Ouvert Anjou Numérique) recently officially named TDF to roll out and operate optical fiber in rural areas in French county Maine- et-Loire. A few weeks after winning public service contracts for French counties Indre-et-Loire and Loir-et-Cher, this represents TDF’s fourth successful contract bid.
220,000 connections in five years
Following a tender process lasting several months, TDF now has the task to deploy, operate and market the optical fiber network in Maine-et-Loire under a 25-year public service outsourcing contract, which covers installing 220,000 connections in five years. Inhabitants and businesses alike will then be able to tap into ultra high-speed broadband throughout the county.
A 25-year TDF and Anjou Numérique partnership
By providing individuals and businesses with ultra high-speed broadband throughout the county, this major project is designed to boost the county’s economic appeal and foster new businesses. In the next few days, TDF will set up a special-purpose company, which will be agent and partner to the Maine-et-Loire municipalities over the forthcoming 25 years. The municipalities and SMO Anjou Numérique viewed TDF as a firm able to further digital development goals in the county and a reliable operator backed by robust finances meaning it could rapidly install fiber throughout rural areas.
